Gurpreet became a lawyer in British Columbia in the year 2009. Before becoming a lawyer Gurpreet worked as a correctional officer and as a probation officer. Gurpreet practices in the areas of immigration, administrative law, societies law, corporate law and general civil litigation. Gurpreet’s practice has allowed him to appear in the Federal Court of Appeal, Federal Court, British Columbia Court of Appeal, Supreme Court of British Columbia, and in the divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board. When not working, Gurpreet enjoys reading, especially history and Russian classics; Gurpreet is greatly influenced by the works of Albert Camus and associates his existence on this planet with the troubling story surrounding the Greek Legend Sisyphus. Gurpreet also enjoys cooking for his family; whether the family enjoys Gurpreet’s cooking continues to be hotly debated.
Katharine’s practice is litigation-focused particularly in the areas of family law, administrative law, immigration, and general civil litigation. Although Katharine always has an eye to alternative forms of dispute resolution, she regularly appears in Supreme Court of British Columbia, Provincial Court of British Columbia, Federal Court, Refugee Appeal Division, Refugee Protection Division, Immigration Appeal Division, and Immigration Division. Katharine has experience of representing clients in the BC Court of Appeal also. Even as an Articled Student Katharine did not shy away from court appearances and has over the years appeared in the courts on various matters. Katharine is also a Duty Counsel (Immigration) with the Legal Services Society of British Columbia (Legal Aid BC); he role as a Duty Counsel allows Katharine to assist and represent persons in immigration detention.
When not in the office or the court room Katharine is an avid swimmer competing regularly with the White Rock Wave, and enjoys spending time with her spouse and two dogs.
Aditya (he/his) was called to the Bar in 2020. Aditya honed his legal skills working in a national level law firm in India, with an emphasis on administrative law; and briefed senior counsel in the Supreme Court of India. Aditya also clerked with a senior judge of the Supreme Court of India. Aditya approaches problems with a practical mindset and thoughtful advocacy skills. He enjoys working with clients who value collaboration and helps them devise innovative strategies to problem solving. While Aditya is relatively new to the Bar in British Columbia, he has practiced for several years in India with one of the most reputed national law firms. Aditya’s legal practice in Canada amongst other areas, focusses on Administrative Law, Labour Relations and general civil litigation. Aditya is also concentrating on establishing a solicitor’s practice involving both private and commercial real estate transactions; and corporate filings.
Outside of work, Aditya enjoys travelling and considers himself a ‘foodie’.
Umar was born in Lahore Pakistan and has grown up in Surrey BC. Umar is a certified Regulated Immigration Consultant of Canada, and is currently completing Bachelors at Kwantlen Polytechnic University. Umar assists the lawyers in preparing and filing immigration applications, and has gained valuable experience in areas involving Humanitarian and Compassionate Consideration Applications; Express Entry Applications and PNP’s; Spousal Sponsorships; Temporary Resident Visas (student, foreign worker, LMIA); PRRA Applications; as an integral part of his work, Umar also deals with all the divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada, and has a keen interest in refugee protection cases.
Umar is a fitness enthusiast and loves to play sports, and is also interested in sport science. Umar is fluent in Hindi, Punjabi, Urdu, and English.
Ramy is an experienced Immigration Consultant. Ramy has obtained a Certificate in Immigration Laws, Policies and Procedures from The University of British Columbia. Ramy is experienced in handling complex immigration applications. Ramy has experience in law related to refugee protection, and is adept at humanitarian and compassionate grounds applications. Ramy’s immigration work also involves handling spousal sponsorship applications, work permit applications, study permits, super visas and regular tourist visas, citizenship applications, express entry application, LMIAs, and assisting the lawyers in the office with cases in all the divisions of the Immigration and Refugee Board of Canada.
